The Sumitomo JR-7 Thermal Jacket Remover is a fibre prep tool used to remove the coating from optical fibres before fusion splicing. It is suitable for single fibre and ribbon fibre, and uses heat to soften the fibre coating, allowing clean and efficient fibre stripping while reducing the risk of damage.
It is compatible with single fibres and ribbon fibres (up to 12 fibres) and can remove coating lengths of up to 35mm, making it suitable for a wide range of fibre preparation tasks in telecommunications, data centre, and FTTx installations.
The JR-7 features four temperature settings, ranging from 80°C to 140°C, allowing users to adjust the heat level depending on the fibre type and coating material. A vibration notifies the technician when the coating is ready to be removed.
It is compact and lightweight, can operate using a rechargeable battery, AC power adapter, or power supplied directly from compatible fusion splicers, making it suitable for use in the field.
